Registration is now open for our Spring Music Together session. There will be two class options: Thursdays from 9:30-10:15 a.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. The Thursday class will begin on March 26 and the Saturday class on April 4.

Music Together is the flagship program at The Janice Center, starting hundreds of youngsters on the road to musical and social development. Since 2008, more than 2,000 children have experienced Music Together classes at The Janice Center. Many have gone on to play musical instruments and participate in dance classes with a more developed musical ear and sense of rhythm.

Music Together is a research-backed program that taps into a young child’s musical instincts through specially-composed music, easy-to-use instruments and instructor/parent involvement. Through 10 weeks of 45-minute classes, children ages 0-4 learn to sing in tune, keep a beat and participate with confidence in a group setting.

As one parent said of Music Together, "It's the best program around for a young child. It offers everything -- interaction, socialization, music, dance and most of all fun!"

The Sullivan West Musical Production Club presented Willy Wonka this past weekend and by all accounts, it was a terrific show. Current Janice Center students in the cast and pit band were integral participants in that success. And despite a late night on Friday after the play's opening all but one were at the Janice Center at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning for their scheduled dance classes. They were Sydney Fisher, Jaelyn Brockner, Layla Wilkin, Ruthie Decker and Luke Bressler.

One of the show's production staff said "having the Janice Center students in the play makes a big difference. They know how to move and dance, work as a team and are comfortable performing in front of an audience."

Of the 38 students who were part of the cast and pit, 19 were current or former Janice Center students. Congratulations to all for a great show!

Ten current Janice Center students in grades 7-12 made academic honor rolls at Sullivan West for the second marking period. They were: Ruthie Decker, Sydney Fisher, Rowan Kehrley, Isabella Parisi, Luke Bressler, Sky Wolfe, Jaelyn Brockner, Kaitlyn Drobysh, Kinley Stevenson, Peyton Stevenson and Layla Wilkin. An amazing 86 current and former students made the Sullivan West Middle and High School honor rolls.

In addition to lessons in clarinet, flute, guitar, piano and saxophone, The Janice Center also offers instruction in voice and drums. Both are taught by Matt Albeck, a multidimensional musician who also teaches guitar and piano.

Lessons are 45 minutes and cost $43. When school is in session, buses from Sullivan West elementary and high school stop right in front of The Janice Center. So if children are taking lessons after school, parents do not have to transport them. During the summer months, lessons are given throughout the day.

Readers of the River Reporter Magazine have again chosen The Janice Center as The Best Dance Studio in its circulation area. This covers all of Sullivan County, Honesdale and parts of Orange County. The Janice Center has received this honor multiple times.

"It's always feels good to be recognized as the best," said owners Ken and Tanya Cohen. "We have so many supportive families. So we share this honor proudly with all of them."

The Janice Center dance program has come a long way since its inception in 2008. That year, there was one class of ballet with 12 students culminating with a small show at the Center. By 2023, that number had grown to more than 100 students in ballet and hip hop, making it the largest dance troupe in Sullivan County. Dance recitals held at The Villa Roma and Sullivan West have drawn close to 400 attendees.

Busses from Sullivan West Elementary and High Schools stop directly in front of The Janice Center everyday. If your child has a class or lesson after school, you don\'t have to worry about transporting him or her here. Just let the authorities at the school know they will be taking the bus to The Janice Center and they\'re all set. If they have to wait any amount of time for their class or lesson to begin, we have a waiting room and also a common area where they can sit an do homework. Also we provide snacks and water. We will always be here until your child is picked up after the class or lesson -- they will never be left alone.

The Janice Center is the ideal place to host your child\'s next birthday party. Whether it be a dance, Music Together or Paint party, we can tailor the activities to your needs. So instead of trying to handle everything yourself, enjoy the special day and let us do all the work. We even put your child’s name on our outdoor marquis!

Said one parent who recently had a party at The Janice Center, “It\'s a no-brainer to have a party here. The kids have a blast, The Janice Center does everything and you can actually just relax and take in the day!\"
